Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Turhal Vocational School participated in the ‘PROJEX – 1st R&D and Innovation Project Market’ event organised by Samsun University and achieved significant success in the academic category. The event, which focused on artificial intelligence and digital technologies, was held at Samsun University's Ballıca Campus Asmaaltı Social Area.

The event aimed to showcase innovative projects developed in the fields of artificial intelligence, big data, the Internet of Things (IoT), automation, and digital transformation, to strengthen the collaboration between academia, industry, and entrepreneurs, and to contribute to our country's digital transformation ecosystem.

First Place in the Academic Category: AkademiSYS

As part of the event,

Associate Professor Dr Yeliz Durgun, a faculty member of the Department of Electronics and Automation at Turhal Vocational School, and

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mahmut Durgun, a faculty member at Turhal Faculty of Applied Sciences,

jointly presented the project titled

‘AkademiSYS: Integrated Digital Management Platform for Academics’, which was awarded first place in the academic category.

AkademiSYS is a web-based software platform that brings together the following processes for academics under one roof:

  • personal web page,
  • course, exam and grade management,
  • question bank and exam automation,
  • optical mark recognition (OMR) evaluation

processes.

The system consists of an outward-facing personal website containing a dynamic CV, course content, announcements and a blog structure, along with a powerful management panel capable of managing question banks, creating exam booklets, automatically evaluating OMR outputs from raw data and transferring grades in bulk to the Student Information System.

In the project:

  • Raw data files produced by existing optical reader devices are transferred directly to the system,
  • and by matching them with the answer key, exam results and item analysis reports can be generated in seconds.
  • Exam booklets supporting multiple groups such as A/B and mixed question/answer structures can be created automatically.
  • The results obtained are converted into formats accepted by Student Information Systems used in universities, enabling one-step grade entry.

AcademiSYS, which has reached THS level 8, stands out as a scalable and commercially ready local EdTech solution that aims to reduce the administrative burden on academics, allowing them to devote more time to education and research activities.
