DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER TECHNOLOGIES
The Computer Technology department is an academic programme that deals with topics such as computer systems, software development, network technologies and computer hardware. It provides students with a broad set of knowledge and skills in the use, design, maintenance and management of computers. In short, the Computer Technology major covers the following subjects:
Computer Hardware: Computer components, microprocessors, memories, storage devices, motherboards, and other hardware components are introduced to the principles of operation and structure. In addition, installation, maintenance and troubleshooting methods of computer hardware are also taught.
Software Development: The focus is on software development processes and programming languages. Students are taught basic programming skills, software design and development methods. Topics such as software testing, debugging and project management are also examined.
Network Technologies: Provides information about computer networks and communication protocols. Students are given basic knowledge of network configuration, network security, network administration and network services. This includes areas such as data communications, internet technologies and cloud computing.
Database Management: Focuses on database design, data modelling, SQL queries and database management systems. Students are provided with basic knowledge in the use and maintenance of databases and data security.
The Computer Technology programme provides students with skills in the use and management of computer systems. Graduates of this programme can have a variety of career opportunities such as software, systems analyst, network administrator, database administrator and computer support specialist. At the same time, this programme provides up-to-date knowledge and skills to keep pace with the rapid developments in the technology sector.
